PIXEL ART
grain by つぶ

Tsubu (粒) means grain — every sprite starts with a single one. It's an online pixel art and sprite editor: draw on a browser canvas, animate frame by frame, AI-generate editable sprites, and export grid-true sheets for Unity, Godot, Phaser and Pixi. No install — just you and the grid.

WHAT YOU GET

Everything you need in a pixel art & sprite editor

A competent, keyboard-first editor — never a toy — with AI where it saves you time and export that never dead-ends.

Pixel editor

A clean, keyboard-driven canvas: pencil, eraser, fill, eyedropper and select & move, with a real palette workflow, zoom, pan and a checkerboard transparency view. Grids up to 256×256.

AI generation

Turn a text prompt into a grid-true, edit-ready sprite — or animate one you already have. AI is optional: it drafts a strong first pass, and every pixel stays yours to edit.

Animation

Build sprite animations frame by frame with a filmstrip timeline, duplicate and reorder frames, and preview the loop at your chosen FPS.

Export anywhere

Ship grid-true, transparent-background sprites as PNG, animated GIF, or a game-ready sprite sheet with a JSON atlas that drops straight into Unity, Godot, Phaser and Pixi.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked

Is Tsubu really free?

Yes. Tsubu is free during early access — the editor, art library, export and AI generation are all free for early adopters for a limited time, with usage sponsored by the platform. No credit card, no payment.

Can I generate pixel art with AI?

Absolutely. Describe what you want and the AI generates a finished, edit-ready pixel sprite — or animate an existing sprite with AI. Everything it produces is plain, editable pixels you can refine on the canvas.

What can I export, and does it work with my game engine?

Images export to PNG (1×–8×). Animations export to animated GIF or a single sprite-sheet .zip (packed PNG plus a JSON atlas in the Aseprite / TexturePacker shape) that drops straight into Unity, Godot, Phaser or Pixi.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Tsubu runs entirely in your browser. Sign in with Google and start drawing — your art is saved to the cloud and reachable from any browser.

Is it good enough for real game development?

Yes. The editor is built to be competent, not a toy: keyboard-first tools, a proper palette workflow, non-square grids up to 256×256, and professional-grade export so your sprites drop cleanly into your pipeline.
